About Rob LaMontagne

I'm a business troubleshooter. Owners call me when the business is running them. Every answer lives in their head, every problem lands on their desk and growth has turned into longer hours instead of a better life. I find what is actually causing the headache, and we fix the systems behind it together.

That work rests on 30 years of doing, not advising from a distance.

Where it started

I learned business in front of people. Years of live demonstration sales taught me how people actually decide, what they actually hear and how fast trust is won or lost, lessons no classroom covers. From there I went into marketing and sales at a national level, including $4.3M in revenue produced from my own sales calls and demonstrations, and doubling a client base and its recurring revenue in sixteen weeks as a VP of Business Development.

The operations years

For about two years I worked inside a health care practice that was doing roughly $800K a year. We put in clear roles and an org chart that worked, got the owner's policies out of his head and written down, ran the company on KPIs everyone could see, and built training, marketing and finance systems where there had been none. New patients roughly doubled in the first year, and the practice grew past $1.25M. A second practice, already over $1M, had a website that captured nothing at all; after the rebuild it brought in about 50 verified leads a month.

I also spent years in operations inside a large non-profit, and later helped a home services business owner put in the systems and foundations his company grew on. That business went from $600K to $10M on the strength of his work and his team. My part was the structure underneath: roles, training and systems that did not depend on any one person remembering everything.

My training

I am trained and certified in the Hubbard management system, with certificates across the full business course line at Hubbard College of Administration: organization, executive leadership, finance, marketing and public relations, sales, human resources and management by statistics. I never chased the degree itself. I wanted the working knowledge, and I have used it in every business since.

Now

Today I run IHelpBusinesses.com, where I troubleshoot owners' businesses directly, and SyncX, the software company I founded to carry the front-office systems: one inbox, missed-call text-back, AI answering, reviews, booking and follow-up. Owners can run SyncX themselves, or have IHelpBusinesses.com set it up and run it for them. Either way, the goal is the same: a business that runs on systems, and an owner who gets time back.

What I believe

Helping people is what underlies everything I do — personally and professionally. I want to see people and businesses create abundance and reach their potential, and I believe small business is the engine that makes that possible at scale. It is what makes this country the greatest in the history of the world: ordinary people building something of their own. The opportunity available to an owner today is bigger than it has ever been. Most owners are one set of working systems away from it.

Family

Family comes first

My wife Jennifer and our kids are the reason the work matters. Everything I build for owners, the time back and the business that runs without them standing over it, is about the same thing I want for my own family: a life where the business serves the family, not the other way around.

Community

Giving back is part of the job

A business does not exist apart from its community. I have spent years in service work alongside my professional life, including presenting a community appreciation award to Detroit's retiring Chief of Police, James Craig. Strong towns are built by people who show up, in business and outside it.
